This nonprofit grew out of Tricia’s independent reseach project in her Masters degree program in Landscape Architecture at Florida International University in Miami, FL. It began as an exploration of the Tropical Hardwood Hammocks close to her home in Key Largo, FL. She soon learned this habit is a critical springboard for the Neotropical Migrating Birds that travel back and forth from North to South America every year.

This critical habitat is the last food stop before the birds undertake the most difficult part of the journey; island hopping from the Keys through the Caribbean islands on nonstop overnight flights. They need as much “fuel reserves” as possible.

As Tricia organized her research into professional graphic slides for her soon then to be awarded winning 2019 ASLA Florida Chapter Merit Award project, she came up with an idea. Inspired by music and the Free Little Library concept, she developed this website to register the public’s Food Trucks for Birds to give people gold stars for installing native trees and plants for birds.
